Clinical Consultation

We may think or hope that therapists know everything, but they don't. Yes, it's
true, therapists are human. Sometimes even the best of us need to consult our
colleagues to gain perspective, learn something new, or receive validation for
something we believe is the right thing to do.

My approach to clinical consultation centers on what my colleague needs and
wants. I very much enjoy providing clinical consultation to other mental health
care providers for such issues as:

■  Gaining new knowledge or perspective about traumatic stress and its
treatment, couple therapy, or psychological assessment.

■  Working toward becoming the type of therapist you want to be.

■  How countertransference (therapist reactions and issues) affects the work
you do.

■  Providing your clients/patients with treatment that matches them, assumes
they are the primary "agents of change" in their own lives, and takes advantage
of their "theory of change."

Contact me to discuss any of this further.
